Native Foods – Ancient Tech Day at Elden Pueblo 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Learn about prehistoric food preparation methods, then sample a stew, made with heirloom beans, and corn cakes. This is the 6th and final workshop in the Ancient Tech Summer Series at Elden Pueblo, focused on native foods. We’ll practice grinding corn with a mano and metate. We’ll also grind pinon nuts to make pinon and blue corn cakes. Then we’ll sample stew, made with heirloom Anasazi beans from Dove Creek, in the Four Corners area. We’ll review native names and uses of common plants in our area, expanding food sources for the ancients.
