1926: The store, residence, hotel and some smaller buildings belonging to Mrs. Louise Cundiff at Canyon Lodge were destroyed by fire about midnight Wednesday. There is practically no water there, at least not enough for efficient fire fighting, and the flames were under such headway before they were discovered that any attempt to put them out was hopeless. It is not known how the fire was started, Mrs. Cundiff being away from home at the time. It is reported that the buildings and contents were not insured.
