Forced to play from behind for nearly all of their first round game against the No. 7 Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks, the No. 10 Coconino Panthers rallied for a 6-5 victory on Saturday in Oro Valley.
Rallying for one run in the fifth, two in the sixth and three runs to take their first lead in the seventh, the Panthers moved on in the 4A Conference tournament with a 6-5 victory. Coconino (15-5, 9-3 4A Grand Canyon) will now take on the No. 2-seeded Mica Mountain Thunderbolts (16-2, 6-2 4A Kino) in Tucson on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
