What I witnessed this month invoked emotions in my heart that reminded me that although our little mountain town has grown in such a way that it’s losing its charm, many of its members have not lost their sense of community.
In the past year, a beloved member of our town was suddenly diagnosed with a devastating condition. A man, my friend, once strong, active and would give you the shirt off his back was now in need of the same. When his rapidly progressing condition suddenly made it nearly impossible to access his bathroom for everyday activities that we take for granted, a team of local business owners answered the call to action immediately and with blue flame intensity. Local businesses Loven Contracting, Buzzard Construction, Mayorgas Welding, Homeco, Central Arizona (Plumbing) Supply, Another Plumbing Company and Bonson Electric (apologies if I missed someone here) banned together like the Avengers to pull off a bathroom remodel like you would only see on some HGTV show.
