The American people are speaking loudly. The economy has not improved. Numbers cannot always explain the difficulties that Arizonans are facing in the job market, the supermarket in the housing market. Inflation and job growth are stagnant. Wages for most Americans are rising but slower than the cost of living. Saving for the future continues to be an elusive goal. Candidates being elected in the Democratic primaries are putting improving the economy first.
Politicians can choose to ignore their constituents at their own peril. The Big Beautiful Bill passed in Congress last summer provided huge tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy. It has created the largest chasm between the top 1% and the rest of America in the last 30 years. A description of this phenomenon is called the K-shaped economy.” It is shorthand for the divergent fortunes of the rich and poor.” (Beccent says widening gap between the rich and poor is dead, National Edition, 8/7/26). Steve Beccent is the U.S. Treasury Secretary. He was quoted as saying, ” I got sick hearing about this K-shaped economy. I can say here definitively that the K-shaped economy is over.” Beccent is worth between $500-700 million. His denial of the economic pressures of everyday Americans is not based in reality.
