Having squeezed into the final spot to host a 2A Conference play-in game, the No. 16 Northland Prep Spartans earned a 9-5 victory against the No. 17 Heritage Academy Prep Heroes at Continental Park on Wednesday to advance to the state tournament.
The Spartans (11-5) will take on the top-seeded Scottsdale Christian Eagles (16-0) on Saturday, looking to spoil a perfect season thus far for the 2A Conference’s top team.
